Choosing the right KYUDOGI : Kyudo Uniform

【 Uwagi (Top) 】

The criteria of sleeves length should be right around the elbow;
appropriate length should not be over or under elbow.
Same criterion applied to both man and woman.
※There are Uwagi (tops) made with different materials for all season around or for summer.
However, please note that there is no winter version of long sleeve tops in Kyudo.

 

 

【 Obi ( Japanese Belt) 】

It is strongly recommended to use Kakuobi (角帯).
The wear methods for man and woman are slightly different.
For man : the upper end of Obi is right on the bellybutton.
For woman : the lower end of Obi is right on the bellybutton.
※The favorable Obi used in Kyudo is called kakuobi 「角帯」
In Budo, Japanese martial art, Obi (Belt) is irrespective of gender.
So there is no woman version of Obi.
※No colors specified for different Kyudo occasions.
Kyudo practitioners can choose favorite color according to your personal preference.

 

【 Hakama 】

The wear methods should be consistent to the position of Obi.

 

【 Tabi 】

●All items sizes shown are Japanese sizes.

●Best fit of Kyudo wear, including Tabi, is strongly recommended.
So, please measure foot size instead of shoe size when purchasing tabi.

●White is the only acceptable tabi color to wear in Kyudo.

 

Choosing the right KIMONO : Japanese Wear

【 Kimono / Kyudo 】 Kimono : Kyudo Japanese Wear 着物

●All item sizes are Japanese size.
●Best fit size: better to choose kimono with right length of sleeves with care, over too long kimono sleeves that may cause practitioner having difficulties to practice Kyudo.
●The best color choice for Kimono for official or formal Kyudo occasions is black for both genders.

 

【 Hakama to go with Kimono 】

●For man : best choice is Shimabakama
●For woman: best color choice is black or navy.

※In Kyudo, practitioners should behave and formal dress according to the time, venue, and occasion. If possible, it is recommended to choose black kimono irrespective of official or informal occasions.
※Kimono color is irrespective of Kyudo ranks or titles (Shogo)
※Kimono is not for specific Kyudo ranks or titles.
So, Kyudo practitioners may consider your own needs and choose to practice in Kimono or Kyudo wears accordingly.
